Gold Crown Foundation was created "for the girls" and we will continue to honor our pledge! From an all girls basketball camp in 1986 to serving over 16,000 youth today, adding Girls Flag Football to our programs was a no-brainer. Here are a few highlights from our inaugural Girls Flag Football Clinic.
Each Saturday morning was packed with energy and athleticism from young female athletes. Their desire to learn and play the game of flag football was exciting to witness. Participants engaged in all parts of the game. From throwing to catching, hand-offs to running, defensive footwork to acceleration, they covered it all.
"I thought it was a terrific introduction to the sport, and my daughter LOVED it! I hope we'll see lots more opportunities for girls to get familiar with the sport and develop skills before high school. The coaches did an awesome job keeping it fun and teaching the girls so much. My daughter even loves watching football more now because of everything she learned at the clinics, and she's excited to play again next fall or sooner!" - Parent of 2023 player
Players from the Denver Bandits were out each week coaching the players with a purpose. Their enthusiasm for mentoring young girls paired with their knowledge of the game made for an excellent overall experience. Not only were young athletes learning the game, moving their bodies, and getting some vitamin D, they were making friends. Good teammates are essential for keeping girls involved in sports. We loved to see it!
