Empowering Tomorrow’s Workforce

Each year, we are impressed and inspired by the class of Career Pathways students. This year was no exception as 25 teens embarked on their workforce readiness journey with enthusiasm, curiosity, and wiliness to learn. After months of discovery, they eagerly were employed by local companies for the final piece of the program, the paid summer internship. Here are some highlights worth sharing.

Silas spent time on our Production Team for our Food Equity campaign, where he fine-tuned his Adobe Illustrator skills. He then went on to intern at History Colorado to further develop his love for graphic design. During his internship, he created original artwork and "behind the scenes" illustrations of History Colorado employees, and the unique, varying tasks and roles that take place each day at the museum.

Silas was also granted the amazing opportunity to not only work at this prestigious museum, but also at the state capitol, historic mining sites in Idaho Springs, and a few other locations. He demonstrated everything we hope to see from a Pathways participant and look forward to his future.

Silvia completed her summer internship with Mortenson Construction. Through shadowing different business professionals, she had the opportunity to be exposed to many facets of the construction business. She gained experience in various areas including virtual design and pre-construction estimating. Her favorite part was being out in the field on active job sites.

Silvia’s internship was the confirmation she needed to continue her engineering track with a full college scholarship. She is attending the University of Denver this fall as a freshman studying mechanical engineering. Congratulations, Silvia!

Eli was an all-around champion throughout the program year, spending many extra hours at the Edgewater Clubhouse prepping and creating t-shirt merchandise during the Food Equity project.

They also did an amazing job at their internship with Elite Entertainment, one of the largest DJ and event/entertainment agencies in Colorado. Elite is known for creating memorable moments at weddings, parties, and more through music, lighting, and overall experiences. Eli assisted the warehouse manager prepping equipment and gear for peak wedding season.
